RentMine.com takes your privacy seriously.  We take great care to protect your private and confidential information.  RentMine's Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect and use the personal information you decide to share, and help you make informed decisions when using RentMine located at www.rentmine.com ("RentMine" or "Web Site").  The policy notifies you of what personally identifiable information we collect, how we use the information, and your options regarding the collection, correction and removal of information.

By using or accessing RentMine, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.  By accepting the Privacy Policy and the User Agreement in registration, you expressly consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is effective upon acceptance for new users and is otherwise effective on February 28, 2008 .   

The Information We Collect

When you visit RentMine you provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected by us and Web Site use information collected by us as you interact with our Web Site.  We may collect and store personal and demographic information when you sign up for an account. We will collect full name, postal address, physical address, billing address, e-mail address, telephone number, and possibly credit card or bank account numbers.  RentMine.com may also collect and store information regarding your vehicles, property, possessions, and services.   Furthermore, we may collect community discussions, chats, dispute resolution, correspondence through our sites, and correspondence sent to us; other information from your interaction with our sites, services, content and advertising, including computer and connection information, statistics on page views, traffic to and from the sites, ad data, IP address and standard web log information, transactional information based on your activities on the sites (such as renting and item content you generate or that relates to your account).

You post User Content (as defined in the RentMine Terms of Use) on the Site at your own risk. We cannot control the actions of other Users with whom you may choose to share your listings or transaction or location. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that User Content you post on the Site will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site. You understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of User Content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other Users have copied or stored your User Content.

Use

Our primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide you with a safe, smooth, efficient, and customized experience. You agree that we may use your personal information to provide the services and customer support you request; resolve disputes, collect fees, and troubleshoot problems; prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities, and enforce our User Agreement; customize, measure, and improve our services and the Sites' content and advertising; tell you about targeted marketing, service updates, and promotional offers based on your communication preferences; and compare information for accuracy, and verify it with third parties. All of your activity on our sites is traceable to your account.

Exceptional Disclosures

1.      Legal Requirements

RentMine may disclose your Personal Information, without notice, only if requested to do so by legal authorities, required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the law or comply with legal process served on RentMine; (b) protect and defend the rights, property, officers, or employees of RentMine; or (c) protect and defend the personal safety of Users or the public, (d) to provide service providers under contract who help with our business operations (such as fraud investigations, bill collection, affiliate and rewards programs and co-branded credit cards).  Without limiting the above, in an effort to respect your privacy and our ability to keep the community free from bad actors, we may be required to disclose user information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. We do not reveal information until we have a good faith belief that an information request by law enforcement or private litigants meets applicable legal standards. Additionally, we may share account or other information when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through RentMine. 

2.      Sale of Rentmine

If RentMine should ever file for bankruptcy or be acquired by a third party, merge with a third party, sell all or part of the RentMine assets, or otherwise transfer substantially all of its relevant assets to a third party, it may sell or share the Personal Information and all other information you have provided through the RentMine Site to such third party.

3.      Children

To comply with The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), you must confirm that you are eighteen (18) years of age or older by checking the appropriate box in order to register for the RentMine Site and to use the system.

4.      Cookies

A cookie is simply a text file which indicates your RentMine ID or session identification number. We use this cookie to: (a) identify returning users; or (b) to track current session information. RentMine may also use a cookie to remember the personal page, groups, sessions, items, or networks you choose so you do not need to choose again during your subsequent visits. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. However, certain features may only be available if cookies are enabled in your browser. A cookie cannot read information stored on your hard drive or read cookie files from other websites. The cookie does not contain your Personal Information.

5.      Invite a Friend

The Site may include an automated invitation tool allowing you to send an e-mail invitation to a friend to create an account. RentMine does not keep account nor track any information you input in this feature.  The invitation e-mail will not automatically create an account for your friend.  Please do not send more than one invitation to the same person. The information entered in the friend invitation tool will not be used to send unsolicited e-mail and will not be sold to a third party.

6.     Email

We reserve the right to send e-mail to you for the purpose of: (1) updates or changes or additions to the Site or Site services; (2) promotional information about services or products offered on the Site; (3) to contact you regarding your registration or activities on the Site; (4) to contact you regarding any activity related to your listings or transactions. Note that administrative e-mails sent to you may include advertisements and special offers from us or our sponsors and advertisers.

7.      Using Information From RentMine

RentMine.com enables you to share personal and financial information to complete transactions. We encourage you to disclose your privacy practices and respect the privacy of other users. We cannot guarantee the privacy or security of your information and therefore we encourage you to evaluate the privacy and security policies of your transaction partner before entering into a transaction and choosing to share your information. To help protect your privacy, we allow only limited access to other users' contact, shipping and financial information to facilitate your transactions. When users are involved in a transaction, they may have access to each other's name, User ID, email address and other contact and shipping and physical information. In all cases, you must give other users a chance to remove themselves from your database and a chance to review what information you have collected about them.  You agree to use user information only for RentMine.com transaction-related purposes that are not unsolicited commercial messages; using services offered through RentMine.com (e.g. billing, insurance, fraud complaints), or other purposes that a user expressly chooses.

8.      Use of Information Obtained by RentMine

When you register with RentMine, you create your own profile. Your profile information may be displayed to anyone using RentMine and to any group you join. When you post listing information to RentMine, your listing information will be available to users of RentMine.  We may occasionally use your name and email address to send you notifications regarding new services offered by RentMine that we think you may find valuable. Furthermore, you will receive emails from individuals regarding transactions and rentals. For instance, if a member requests information or rental availability confirmation on an item or service you have posted, you may receive an email alerting you to that fact. Profile information is used by RentMine primarily to be presented back to and edited by you when you access the service and to be presented to others permitted to view that information. In addition, other RentMine members may post comments and feedback about you which will supplement your profile. RentMine members may also view your profile.  Generally, you may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your account. RentMine.com may use information in your profile without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as aggregating and understanding better who is using the service.

9.      Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

RentMine provides you a venue to facilitate the rental of your possessions and services.  All communication with other RentMine members is performed in a brokered manner where messages and telephone calls are forwarded between parties.  We may provide information to service providers to help us bring you the services we offer. Specifically, we may use third parties to facilitate our business, such as to host the service at a co-location facility for servers, to send out email updates about RentMine, to remove repetitive information from our member lists, to facilitate the collection of claims or unpaid bills, to process payments for products or services, or to provide search results or links. In connection with these offerings and business operations, our service providers may have access to your personal information for use for a limited time in connection with these business activities. Where we utilize third parties for the processing of any personal information, we implement reasonable contractual and technical protections limiting the use of that information to the RentMine-specified purposes.

10.  Updating Your Information and E-mail Preferences

You may modify your personal information or demographic information anytime by logging into your account. You may modify or remove any and all information from our database by sending e-mail to privacy@rentmine.com.

11.  Enrolled Organizations

If you submit an Application for your nonprofit organization to be considered with RentMine’s donations system, we require your name, e-mail address, and a postal address and phone number for your nonprofit organization. We may use that information to send you important notices, updates and other communications related to the RentMine system.

12.  No Spam, Spyware or Spoofing

We and our users do not tolerate spam. You are not licensed to add other RentMine users, even a user who has purchased an item from you, to your mailing list (email or physical mail) without their express consent. You may not use our communication tools to send spam or otherwise send content that would violate our User Agreement. We automatically scan and may manually filter messages to check for spam, viruses, phishing attacks and other malicious activity or illegal or prohibited content.  If you send an email to an email address that is not registered in our community (via Refer-a-Friend or other tools), we do not permanently store that email or use that email address for any marketing purpose. We do not rent or sell these email addresses.

13.  Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may change our Privacy Policy if our information practices change. We will post such changes on the Site with an effective date.

14.  Links to Other Sites

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of other Web sites that we do not own or operate.

15.  Consent

Our Privacy Policy is part of our Terms of Service. Each time you use the Site or submit information, you accept and agree to be bound, without limitation or qualification, by the Terms of Service including the Privacy Policy.
